Most everyday shopping in Saudi Arabia happens in large malls in Riyadh and Jeddah, with historic souqs for local atmosphere and Amazon.sa for online orders. Mall hours, store lineups and delivery coverage change, so use each mall's or store's own app for current details.
Malls in Riyadh
The Wikipedia list of Saudi malls (incomplete, by its own note) names 22 in Riyadh, including Kingdom Centre Mall, Al-Faisaliah Mall, Riyadh Park, Al-Nakheel Mall, Panorama Mall, Riyadh Gallery Mall, U Walk, Via Riyadh and Solitaire Mall. Details we could confirm:
- Kingdom Centre. In Olaya on King Fahd Road, completed in 2002. The Kingdom Centre Mall has more than 150 stores across three levels, according to Wikipedia, and the tower's Sky Bridge observation deck is open to the public for an admission fee.
- Riyadh Park. In the al-Aqeeq district, opened in 2017, with a cinema opening in April 2018 and about 132,000 square meters of floor area, per Wikipedia. It houses the Museum of Illusions.
Malls in Jeddah
The same list names Jeddah malls including Red Sea Mall, Mall of Arabia, Al-Andalus Mall, Serafi Mega Mall, Haifaa Mall, The Village Mall and U Walk Jeddah. It also lists Westfield Jeddah with a 2026 date; check whether it is open before you plan a visit.
- Red Sea Mall is in northern Jeddah on King Abdulaziz Road, between the airport and the coast. It opened in March 2008, has about 242,000 square meters of built area, a Danube supermarket as an anchor, a 12-hall VOX cinema, and dining that includes Applebee's, Texas Roadhouse, Shake Shack and Al Baik, per Wikipedia.
Souqs and old towns
Historic Jeddah (Al-Balad) was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2014 as "Historic Jeddah, the Gate to Mecca." Wikipedia names Souq Qabil (also called Souk Al-Jamaa) there and describes shops that historically did not sell high-end designer clothing. The area hosts the annual Misk Historic Jeddah event. Go for atmosphere and small purchases; check opening hours, which vary by day and prayer times.
Online shopping
Amazon.sa is the former Souq.com in Saudi Arabia, which changed its name on 17 June 2020, per Wikipedia. Be careful with similarly named sites: the website mallofarabia.com is an unrelated online marketplace, not the Jeddah mall.
