For gear and clothes, the easiest options in Saudi Arabia are Mothercare and Babyshop in malls, online shops such as Mumzworld and Amazon.sa, and general supermarkets for daily items like nappies. Buy a proper child car seat early: Saudi traffic rules fine drivers who carry children without restraints.
Stores with a Saudi presence
Mothercare. Alshaya's store locator lists Mothercare branches in Saudi Arabia, including Riyadh Park, Granada Mall and Khurais Road in Riyadh, Red Sea Mall in Jeddah, Al Othaim Mall in Dammam, Al Rashid Mall in Al Khobar and Aliat Mall in Medina. The Red Sea Mall page lists daily hours of 09:30 to 23:00, with Friday opening at 13:30. Hours differ by store, so check the locator page for your branch.
Babyshop. Babyshop has a dedicated Saudi site with prices in SAR. Its categories include feeding, nursery, bath and safety, diapering, travel gear and furniture. As of October 2026 the site advertises home delivery within 1 to 3 business days, free shipping and click-and-collect from stores; use the in-site store locator to find a branch.
Mumzworld. Mumzworld has a Saudi storefront (mumzworld.com/sa-en) selling baby and mother products online. Its shipping, returns and remote-area terms are on separate pages of the site, so check those before ordering large items.
Amazon.sa. Amazon replaced Souq.com in Saudi Arabia in 2020, and accounts carried over. Amazon.sa has a baby category. Delivery terms and Prime availability change, so check the checkout page.
What to buy where
- Big items (cot, stroller, car seat): buy from a store that lets you see them, or from a retailer with a clear returns policy. Read the returns page before ordering online.
- Daily items (nappies, wipes, formula): supermarkets and pharmacies stock these; compare unit prices rather than pack prices. If your baby uses a specific formula, buy two or three tins first and confirm local availability.
- Clothes: buy for the climate. Indoor air conditioning is strong and outdoor heat is high, so you need light cotton items plus a light layer for malls and cars.
Car seat rule
Saudi Arabia's General Directorate of Traffic announced in November 2021 that drivers who let children travel without child restraints, or let children under 10 sit in the front seat, face fines of SAR 300 to SAR 500. Vehicles without a back seat are exempt from the front-seat rule. Adults without seat belts face SAR 150 to SAR 300. Check the current figure on the traffic fine tool before relying on it.
Practical steps:
- Buy a seat suitable for your child's weight and age, and make sure it fits your car's belt or ISOFIX points.
- Fit it in the back seat.
- Keep the receipt and manual; do not assume a taxi or ride-hailing car will have a child seat, so bring your own for short trips.
Before the baby arrives
Check what your health insurance covers for maternity and newborns, and add your baby to the policy as soon as the paperwork allows. See health insurance in Saudi Arabia and pediatric healthcare.
