I'm thinking of resigning after three years with my employer in Saudi Arabia. How much notice do I have to give on an open-ended contract, what happens if someone leaves during probation, and how is end-of-service pay worked out when the worker resigns?

On an open-ended contract with a monthly wage, you give your employer at least 30 days' written notice, and after resigning you receive one third, two thirds or all of the end-of-service award depending on your years of service.
Example: with three years' service the full award is one and a half months' wage, so resigning gives one third of that, half a month's wage.
Probation must be stated in the contract with a clear length, and the total can't exceed 180 days. Either side can end the contract during probation.
On Saudi Expats: the notice period calculator and the salary calculator.
Checked September 2026. The Labor Law has other cases that change these amounts, so confirm your figure with HR or the Ministry of Human Resources.
