How do I check that a real estate broker or rental listing is licensed?

Use REGA's real estate broker inquiry, which shows whether a broker is licensed and the licence is valid, searchable by licence number, brokerage contract number or ownership document number.

What REGA's rules say

• A broker may only practise within the limits of their licence (Implementing Regulations, Article 2).
• A broker must obtain a real estate advertising licence for each advertisement (Article 6).
• The broker inquiry service is open to individuals, businesses and the public, with support on 199011.

Before you pay a deposit

1. Ask the broker for their licence number and the listing's advertising licence details.
2. Check the licence on REGA's broker inquiry service.
3. View the property and confirm who the owner or authorised landlord is.
4. Put the agreed lease on Ejar before handing over large payments.
